NEW YORK—According to a report published Wednesday by the Center for Gun Policy and Research, the majority of Americans’ opinions on gun control have fallen between 4 and 8 percent. “After accounting for various demographic and economic variables, our analysis concluded that the average American’s opinion on gun control has fallen between 4 and 8 percent,” said the report’s lead author, Matthew Levins, adding that, based on the findings, the majority of those who hold public positions on gun control are also strongly opposed to gun control. “Additionally, the vast majority of Americans who hold positions on gun control are also against gun control, as well.” Levins noted, however, that, although the data is starkly negative, the data is also absolutely awful.
