WASHINGTON—Claiming it was the most significant finding of the new era of studying the U.S. population, a study released Monday by the Department of the Interior Department found that the vast majority of the country has no idea what state they’re in. “Our findings show that, based on the data we have on the demographics of the population, almost 98 percent of the population in the United States is not even aware that they are in one of the 100 states,” said Secretary Sally Jewell, describing the findings as the most significant finding of the new age of studying the U.S. population. “That’s right, on the most basic level, the majority of the population of this country is completely unaware that they are in a state that they have no idea is in another state. Without any scientific basis whatsoever.” A summary of the study, which was released by the Department of the Interior, can be found at http://www.doc.gov.
