As I travel back in time from the year 2200 BC, I am reminded of the lengths to which humanity’s common ancestors will have to go if we wish to stay sane and live in this planet. For this reason, I am compelled to examine the past few hundred years’ worth of human history in order to ensure that the next few thousand years will continue to fit comfortably within my contorted, highly simplified timeline.
